Armed with Beauty: women and power since the Middle Ages

Armed with Beauty: women and power since the Middle Ages

The exhibition investigated the material and immaterial – mostly invisible – means women have had of controlling power from the Middle Ages to the present day. It presented seven female icons from Dutch history and brought them to life through historical objects. Three contemporary artists were asked to make new work reflecting on the theme of female power across the centuries.

HB Art Consultancy was responsible for the selection of the contemporary artists and for liaising with them as they produced a work especially for this show. Furthermore, Hélène was the overall project leader for the exhibition which included selecting the objects and securing important loans from other museums, supervising the curator and the designer, writing the texts for the public display and organizing the opening event.
